Dispatcher and Shuttle Driver

Summary
The Children’s Center Utah is seeking a part-time dispatcher and backup shuttle driver for our transportation department. The Dispatcher receives and processes transportation requests from staff and clients, dispatches drivers and assists in the coordination of scheduling routes for clients’ bus transportation needs. This position will also fill in as a backup driver when needed, transporting preschool aged children to and from their homes to our therapeutic preschool program. (NO CDL required.) Additionally, this position will help cover the front desk as needed.
 
Responsibilities
  • Receive and process transportation requests
  • Dispatch drivers as needed
  • Assist in coordinating the scheduling of routes
  • Instruct drivers in policy procedures and schedule changes
  • Fill-in for other drivers who are out and safely transport preschool children to and from The Children’s Center Utah
  • Work cooperatively with the clinical staff to meet the needs of the children
  • Cover the office front desk as needed

Requirements
  • 21 years or older
  • Clean driving record with no DUIs (Motor Vehicle Records will be checked)
  • Similar driving experience and/or dispatch experience preferred (NO CDL required)
  • Ability to pass a background screening
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs and look under bus seats
  • Schedule flexibility, to be able to cover entire day as backup driver or Transportation Coordinator as needed
  • Ability to operate computer and printer, possessing basic computer skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively using a two-way radio, telephone, and written instructions
  • Must be able to read and understand online maps for routing and scheduling purposes
  • Ability to maintain composure in difficult or stressful situations
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) communication skills helpful
Schedule
This is a part-time position, approximately 20 hours a week, generally from 2-6 pm.
When covering as a backup driver or to dispatch full day, schedule is a split shift between the hours of 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
 
Compensation
$18 /hour
