Development & Membership Assistant (Part-Time)

Admin/Operations Arts and Culture Customer Service Fundraising and Development Outreach and Community Engagement

The Salt Lake Film Society (SLFS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is seeking a collaborative and community-minded Development & Membership Assistant to help strengthen support for independent cinema. This part-time role (25 hrs/week, Tues–Sat) supports the Director of Development to engage patrons, grow memberships, assist with fundraising events, and support donor communications and data management. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Fostering positive and respectful relationships with patrons and members in-person, delivering responsive, inclusive, and high-quality service that reflects our commitment to community and belonging.

· Providing collaborative administrative support across Development team activities, helping advance fundraising goals and organizational initiatives.

· Assisting with and contributing to outreach efforts that nurture and grow community partnerships, with a focus on equity, inclusion, and mutual impact.

Supporting the planning and execution of fundraising and engagement events, including coordination, logistics, and active in-person participation, to help create welcoming and accessible experiences for all attendees.

The ideal candidate understands and embraces the unique nature of nonprofit development and fundraising and brings the following experience and skillsets:

· 3-5+ years in an in-person, public-facing role (e.g., theater, guest services, hospitality, retail, or sales)

· 2+ years in a customer service position

· 2+ years in an administrative support role, ideally within development, fundraising, a membership based organization, sales or marketing

· 1+ year with a nonprofit or community organization supporting outreach, partnerships, or mission-driven campaigns

· Familiarity with donor/member databases and POS systems (e.g., DonorPerfect, Art House Plus)

· Knowledge of email marketing, social media, and promotional tools

· Experience planning and supporting events (logistics, scheduling, on-site support)

· Strong communication skills—professional, clear, and engaging

· Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and related tools

· Self-directed, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities

· Reliable follow-through on administrative tasks and reporting

· Attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment

· Strong time management and problem-solving skills

· Commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive space for all

· Interest in or willingness to learn about the film industry

· Ability to pass a background check and drug test

Part-time Schedule:

Tuesdays: Staff Meetings 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays:

12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in office/meetings; 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in theatre

Fridays & Saturdays 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in theatre

Compensation & Benefits:

$ 20.00 - $ 22.00/hr if meets all qualifications for previous experience.
